Fees and Funding

We understand that nursery fees and funding can be overwhelming, with a lot of important information to navigate. Our goal is to simplify this for you and provide clear details about the costs you can expect, as well as how to make the most of your funding and tax-free entitlements when sending your child to nursery.

At Moon River Nursery, we accept all Government childcare funding entitlements for children aged 9 months to 5 years, and we also welcome families who are not eligible for funding. Our nursery are open throughout the year for 51 weeks, but funding eligibility is based on term-time-only provisions (open for 38 weeks). As a result, we "stretch" funding over 47.8 weeks we are open, giving eligible families access of up to 24 hours.

However, it's important to note that while the expansion of extended childcare funding to a wider age range for eligible working families is a positive development, it does not mean everyone will have access to completely free childcare. This is because funding is intended to cover only the basic costs of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage, and does not cover meals, drinks, snacks, trips, or any other educational resources, materials, enrichment programmes, or activities.

We understand that nursery fees can be a significant expense for families. That's why we strive to keep our costs as low as possible.

At Moon River Nursery, all families are automatically enrolled into our Enhanced Provision; an all-inclusive childcare service that combines government-funded early education hours with additional care and exciting activities beyond the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Our Enhanced Provision makes nursery life easier for families by including all essentials such as meals, snacks, nappies, wipes, sun cream, and Calpol – so there’s less for you to pack and plan each day.
